Well, sort of. I was more on the sunburned side, but everything went pretty well at the Oil City Festival of the Book. Sold 3 copies of Destiny, which is on par with what I sold last year (though that was 3 copies of Never Alone). It did not seem as busy as last year, which was sad, but it is what it is. Met some very nice fellow authors and readers. If you are reading my blog for the first time, welcome!
My next event is Pet fest! It is a fundraiser event for the local animal shelter Precious Paws. I adopted my cat, Mrs. Norris, from there, and it means a lot to have a shelter like it around. I have a feeling I probably won’t sell much, if any at all, there, but it’s fine. I will be donating two baskets (well, one is a box). One with Destiny’s Call to Arms, the other with Never Alone. Each will have a candle, mug, and some goodies. Each book is of course signed. I hope to drop those off at the shelter later today. So if you would like to help the shelter and get a chance to win a signed copy of either of my books, here’s your chance!

One small thing I will do if I get the chance at Petfest, is reading aloud from Destiny, so if you can come to Franklin on September 13th, come to the Bandstand park to check things out! I’ll probably pet more puppies than sell anything, but that’s okay. It starts at 10 am and goes to 4 pm. (I however will probably only stay until 3 pm. It depends on how much traffic I get).
How it’s DONE DONE DONE!!!!
Well, I certainly did my part to make sure the Honmoon was sealed! I got to go after all!
I had already watched reaction videos for it via YouTube (Cinapals, Reel Rejects, and Media Knights). And I fell in love with it just watching it through there. When they announced it was coming to the theaters, I had to go. At first, we’d thought we’d have to go to the big city, but because of demand, we lucked out and went to the independent theater nearby. As they had announced it last minute, there weren’t that many there, but it was fine, we had a blast singing along, and I got to see it uncut.
The story is well written. I know only a tiny amount of Korean lore because of reading a Young Adult fantasy novel several years ago called Gilded, and I remember little of it. When the movie opened up with the original Demon hunters in traditional dress, I fangirled out because I knew what they were because of all things, MASH. There was an episode where the camp was having lots of bad luck, and an older man would not let them help him until the camp had a priestess drive out the “evil spirits”. It is a random thing to be sure, but got to give the writers and costume makers of MASH credit for being accurate.
The anime faces, the music — it was all perfect. Totally Sailor Moon meets Kpop. I get why they ended it like they did, and I’m sad, but if that character does not come back, I get it. Most can’t, but I can. The Tiger and the Magpie are my favorites. I love how the tiger has to fix overturned things. It’s so cute.
Disney needs to watch it to remember how to make original stories with excellent characters that drive the story (yes, I went there). I hate that it’s on Netflix. I am not a fan. They rarely release stuff on DVD, so here’s hoping, though I’m not getting my hopes up about it. They are in talks for more movies, which they need to do. Backstories were lacking on the girls. Granted, it originally was a three-hour film, so maybe a director’s cut or something will come out. Wait and see. For now, “How it’s Done” is on repeat. Mira is my spirit animal.
That’s all for now, again, make sure if you can to come out to Petfest on September 13th! Starts at 10 am!
