Well, it’s almost December. I am behind on Quest because of losing my car to a deer. Everyone is fine, even the stupid deer, but not my car. Another financial burden my family did not need.
I hope at least by the end of next week to be done with the first round of edits and get it to the “Alpha” reader. My beloved cover creator is working on that at least, so maybe able to drop that at the start of the new year.
Pop Culture Corner: Legends ZA is the Pokémon Z we’ve been waiting for.
I remember the day it was announced. I was watching HDvee’s live reaction stream, and I figured it out before he did and started full fangirl screaming. I loved X/Y. And to finally get the sequel that was canceled all those years ago…such joy.
And that is what this game has brought me, joy. I get the complaints. But compared to how Scarlet was, it was so much better graphic-wise, and I’m on a Switch 1.
Some of what I’m seeing from people I feel are those who forget that Pokémon is for a younger audience and it needs to stay that way. I don’t want Palworld in any way in my Pokémon. Period. (Side note: I am not happy with Nintendo on that, and I hope that Palworld wins).
It has a certain art style to it, and ZA stays true to it. Each Pokémon has its own personality and even footstep sounds! They built it up even more than what S/V did. I don’t like, though, that you can’t really talk to your Pokémon. You can in all the other Switch games, so I don’t understand that.
People also forget this is an in-between gens game, and it will not be as…detailed as a “mainline” game. I have high expectations for Gen 10, and if I don’t think I’d get my money’s worth out of it, I won’t get it. It’s going to cost so much for Switch 2, and I can’t waste my money on something that is half-baked.
I won’t spoil the story, but as one who played X/Y, it was deeply satisfying. I am confused/annoyed at not knowing where certain characters are. I figure one will maybe show up in the DLC, but the other pair, I doubt it. Sigh.
It ended well and made me cry. I had a feeling early on about what was going to happen, and yeah. The music, the music! Not only am I reliving the old days, but the battle theme for Jacinthe is magnifique! I ran to get my mom to listen to it because it had swing music entwined with it! Perfection!
It’s a solid 7/10. I knock off for the battle glitches that annoy me sometimes, and 2 off for not giving us the Starters (as in Kalos) in-game and forcing us to play ranked online battles. That is a big kick in the face. Especially as they did a big video for it, yet didn’t mention how to get them. It was very much a jerk move, and I’m still angry. I am lucky I have online play, so I got my mega stone for my Delphox. The only other time I did not go with the Water starter (I love Greninja don’t get me wrong, I am team frog, but as it was in the height of Naruto, I went fire fox).
This was a great game, so I hope Game Freak will go over the top for Gen 10. I really am hoping.
That’s my 2 cents on ZA. I love it. I got 5 random full odd shinies! I’m still working on my shiny charm! My dear Fae the blue Floette (now of course Florges) took me 25 minutes of stress and resetting because of the night cycle. Then I got a Fletchling on a lamppost, then a Spinarak on the side of a building! (That was a touch emotional as my first shiny was a Spinarak in Pokémon Gold, which of course I lost when the battery died.)
When I was heading up a ladder, shiny sound! Had to slaughter an annoying Mawile then got up to see shiny ALPHA Manectric!!! Good boy.
Then my latest shiny was another 25 minutes of roof hoping almost giving up until finally on the tallest rooftop…another blue Flotte.
Couldn’t be another color, nooooooo.
I don’t know why the Floette line likes to torture me, but it is what it is. Right now I’m kicking myself. I should have picked Charmander, don’t know why I went with Bulbasaur, (well, I do; it was to round out my team. At the time I had no shiny fairy flower). So, I am trying to get just a Charmander with good stats and am having no luck. So yeah, it’s going to be a long hunt. I got a nice big Pikachu and evolved it, so my Raichu and Delphox are ready for the DLC.
I love Pokémon, and I got a good game. It needs a few things, but I find most of those who complained hate Nintendo at large which I get some of it, if I am given a perfectly good game I’ll be enjoying it, and Pokémon is pretty much all I have left so not sorry. But I will be very critical of Gen 10.
That’s all for now.
Lots of love and Happy Thanksgiving!
