Goodbye, Dolly. My heart broke; I cried and cried. To lose you, to have that video pop up on my phone just at the moment I was working on this blog post…it made me cry so hard.
You were amazing, bright in all ways. I grew up watching 9 to 5 on repeat. Every time I saw you on tv all I wanted to hear was that song. It is my favorite song of yours. I enjoy your other beautiful songs, but that one will always be my favorite. I looked up to you, in your glittery outfits I loved so much, your smile and generous nature, your wonderful book program.
It was a punch to the gut on an already bad day. It was like when Leonard Nimoy died. To know I will never get the privilege of meeting you. My mom and I will watch 9 to 5 and cry over losing the Queen of Rhinestones, Country, and most of all, love.
