Hello everyone! Strawberry Days was a fun and interesting experience. Between the rain, lots of humidity, cute dogs, yummy lemonade, and squirrels, it was satisfying.

(Picture above is a cute dragon I bought from a vendor. She is Mini FireWind and she will be a part of the display now.)
By Saturday at about 10:30 am, my friend and I were talking about how we probably would not come back due to lack of sales. I had sold only 2 books, and the same for her. Well, the universe was nope; you are coming back. It also became a joke between us whenever one of us left for the bathroom or whatever, a customer would show up (which happened many times).
I sold 13 books by the end, plus did a book swap with a fellow fantasy writer. One of the best moments was a lady who came in excited telling us we were the first writers to do the strawberry days that she was aware of (she’d being coming for a long time) and asked to buy one of each of our books.
The pair of us were stunned. I quickly gave her a poster for Never Alone for that. She was so happy and excited, and asked for a picture with us just in case we became famous. It was a fun interaction, to say the least, and certainly made our week.
The quiet moments of time were dangerous, for we both started brainstorming for extra bits and whatnot, so I now have a few orders coming to expand what I sell in the tent. Stay watching Facebook and Instagram to see what I’m working on!
Speaking of working, I am working on Quest; I’m almost halfway through the paper edit. Waiting still for one more voice recording, the trailer hopefully I’ll get it done and out by the end of the month or the start of next.
Other Events for the year
I have applied for one event that is coming in August. It’s still early to apply for Petfest. But in stone I am with my two fellow writers. We are doing for sure Applefest, in front of the Franklin Public Library, on Saturday, October 3rd. When I have official confirmation for the other events, I will announce them right away.
Friendly reminder: Kindle eBook sale
There was a minor hiccup of me not reading fully some of the time stamps (in fairness, I had to set things up on my phone because we had no power thanks to the storms) the Kindle sale started Tuesday at 11:00 am EST. It will go through until Saturday. Destiny’s Call to Arms is $5.99 and Never Alone is $4.99.
Also of note, I had a reader ask about how Kindle Unlimited worked to pay us authors. It works like this: We don’t get paid anything unless you read the book. The more you read of the book, the more we will receive in royalties. If you return it without reading it, or only read the first chapter, we get nothing. If you read to a certain point, we get a little in change. A customer has to read the book completely for us to get anything substantial. It’s more about reading volume when it comes to KU. And it’s only first read-throughs. We don’t get money for re-reads.
Hope that is helpful information for those who wondered about how KU worked.
Pop Culture Corner
TBR pile-still working on it
I am going to be returning to my current read today, had to put it aside for some things plus the festival, so I will finish that read in the next few days and write up a review hopefully for it.
That’s all for now! Thank you to the new fans popping in and following! It means so much.
Lots of Love,
Dragonninjawriter
